Artstor is a major resource for students at SFSU. Locate this database on the library website and then you can choose from over 2 million images. One of the photographers we’ll be studying this semester is Joel-Peter Witkin. His photographs can’t be neatly tucked into the category of gothic, but they often contain gothic elements.

When I look at this image I know that the person who created it was in love with something. That something was the idea of his utterance. Yet the grotesque aspect represents mystery and the occult to me.
