Equiano Notes (VIAL)

Here are the notes I used for today’s lecture:

page 63: Equiano’s sense of personal providentialism. The story of John Mondle, who awakes in terror one night and wanders the decks, during which time a ship strikes theirs, obliterating Mondle’s quarters. Other examples: a woman and child fall from the deck into the hold and are unharmed. The same thing happens to Equiano himself.
